According to the 2014 Uganda Population and Housing Census, Pakwach is estimated to have a population of 158, 037, with more females (51.7%) than males (48.3%).

Population Density

 

Population density refers to the number of people per square kilometre. Pakwach District has an area of 1008.6sq.km and basing on the census 2014 results, the population density of Pakwach is 157 persons per sq.km

 

   Illiteracy rates

 

Literacy is defined as one’s ability to read with understanding and to write meaningfully in any language while illiteracy is the inability to read with understanding and to write meaningfully in any language. The 2014 Population and Housing Census measure illiteracy for persons aged 10 years and above as shown in table 3.4

Percentage of Persons with Disabilities

 

According to the 2014 Population and Housing Census, disability was defined as any difficulty in moving, seeing, hearing, speaking and any mental learning difficulty, which has lasted or was expected to last for six months or more. In the case of Uganda, cases like epilepsy and rheumatism are classified as disabilities.
